Updates

Guest Speaker

We are excited to announce Jake Zweig as our guest speaker for the race! Mr. Zweig is a former Navy Seal and current Special Teams Analyst for the University of Illinois Football team. He has also been a part of the survival show “Dude You’re Screwed" on Discovery channel.

Top Finisher Prizes

Top finishers (1st-3rd) in each age group will be awarded race medals with the date, their position, sex, and age group. Top overall finishers for both males and females will also receive a race medal.

T-Shirt Design

This year's race shirt will be blue and orange for that Illini Spirit! You can check out this year's race design below. Register before Early Registration ends to guarantee yourself a T-Shirt on race day!

Staging Location

Foellinger Auditorium, right in the middle of the beautiful main quad, is our staging location! Using Foellinger Auditorium as a starting location allows us better access to restrooms, shelter areas, and improves our finish line procedures.

Sponsors

We will be announcing our new sponsors on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/IlliniVeteransMemorial5K) and on the Illini Veterans Webpage (http://www.illiniveterans.org/5k/sponsors) in the months and weeks leading up to the event. We have been fortunate to work with several wonderful sponsors that share our passion for supporting student veterans in higher education. If you know of a business that would be interested in becoming a sponsor for our event, please have them contact us at illiniveterans@gmail.com.

Severe Weather Disclaimer

The Memorial 5K will be held rain or shine. However, if the weather becomes more serious, to include, but not limited to, lighting, strong winds, heavy downpour, and flooding, the race committee may make the decision to cancel the race. If this is to occur, we cannot offer refunds or returns on race entries. All proceeds will still go towards the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education.
